ESA architecture definition on Space Situation Awareness – Space Weather

 

Kongsberg Spacetec has completed an ESA architecture definition on Space Situation Awareness – Space Weather, as sub-contractor to OHB Systems AG Germany.

Scope of the work has been to analyse and present a functional and physical architecture of a Space Weather (SWE) monitoring and forecast system, including risk and cost analysis.

In more detail the architecture definition includes:

  • Space segment and space sensors network
  • Ground based sensors network
  • Data processing
  • Service provision system

Kongsberg Spacetec’s role in this work has been analysis, architecture and definition of the ground sensor network, analysis and architecture definition of the SWE services (providing data and products) to the users, and SWE segment level functions.

Kongsberg Spacetec had the leading role in the overall modelling activities using ESA-AF extensively.

Kongsberg Spacetec was responsible for defining the security architecture of the SWE.
